The Williams baseball team dropped their rubber match with the Evangel Valor on Saturday afternoon by a score of 5-3.
The Eagles got the scoring started early with a run in the first off a RBI fielder's choice by Nicholas Jones that saw Dezmond Cordova come home and slide in under the tag. The Valor responded with two runs in the top of second off a two-run homerun. Williams got the lead right back in the home half of the second with two runs to take a 3-2 lead. Parker Jeffries scored on a passed ball and then Jarron Brantley hit a RBI single to right field. That was all the scoring until the seventh inning when the Valor plated three to take a 5-3 lead.
Brevin Carlisle got the start for the Eagles and pitched 5.2 innings. He allowed two runs off four hits, walked one and struck out four. Skylar Morrison pitched 1.1 innings of relief and allowed one run off two hits and struck out one. Cole Edwards pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief and gave up two runs off three hits. Parker Jeffries pitched 1.1 innings of relief and allowed one hit.
