Arkansas State University-Newport issued the following announcement on May 24.
The Instructor of Diesel Technology (DT) reports to the Dean for Applied Science and is responsible for teaching DT courses as appropriate to the two-year college level including classroom and laboratory instruction. In addition, this position serves as a maintenance technician for the Commercial Driver Training program. This role supports the College’s mission of providing and ensuring quality educational programs for ASUN’s various constituencies.
This position is a 12-month faculty position and will be housed on the Newport campus. Evening courses may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirements for this position include an Associate Degree or equivalent credentialing. Experience and professional certification may be substituted for the degree requirement. Applicants must also have the ability to use and understand related diagnostic equipment and diesel computer programs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred qualifications include an associate degree or appropriate industry certification(s) and/or three to five years of industrial experience in Diesel Technology. Certification in Freightliner courses and other industry standard equipment is preferred. Previous recruitment, administration, and college teaching experience are also preferred.

The annual salary for this position is $44,000.
