WILLIAMS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY: Eagles Split With Blue Mountain

Williams Baptist University issued the following announcement on April 12.

The Williams baseball team split their Tuesday doubleheader with the Blue Mountain College Toppers, winning game one 6-5 and dropping game two 2-1. The Eagles are now 18-21 overall and 3-9 in conference play.

Game One

The first game saw both team score five runs in the first two innings and remain deadlocked until the Eagles scored the winning run in the top of the seventh. The Eagles got things going with four runs in the first inning. Nick Allred hit a RBI single, Sam Philley hit a RBI double, and Garrison Keene hit a 2 RBI single. The Toppers cut the lead down to one run in the bottom of the first, but the Eagles got one run back in the second after Nicholas Jones hit a RBI double. The Toppers tied it a 5 in the bottom of the second. The Eagles scored the winning run in the top of the seventh when Allred reached on an error that allowed Jones to come home and score.

Cole Manning got the start and pitched 1.0 inning for the Eagles. He gave up five runs off two hits, walked five and struck out two. Parker Jeffries pitched 6.0 innings of relief and gave up two hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Game Two

The Eagles didn't have much going on offensively in the second game, collecting only three hits. They scored their lone run in the seventh when Jarron Brantley hit a RBI sac fly.

Cash Forrester got the start and pitched 4.2 innings. He gave up two runs off five hits and struck out two. Eric Tolar pitched 1.1 inning of relief and walked one.
