City of Walnut Ridge Special Election on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021
Early voting has started.
• Will give voters the option to change the term length for city council members from 2 years to 4 years
• This election is for city council term lengths only, no other elected officials’ terms would change
• If approved by voters, council members will be elected to 4-year staggered terms starting at the 2022 General Election as follows:
• November 2022
o Council Member #1 in each ward runs for 4 years
o Council Member #2 in each ward runs for 2 years
• November 2024
o Council Member #2 in each ward runs for 4 years
• From that point on, only 4 of the 8 council members seats will be on the ballot during a General Election
