Arkansas State University-Newport issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.
The Director of Academic Advising and Assessment reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and has responsibility for the development and implementation of assessment strategies for programs and services as related to academic advising and student success, and participate in strategic planning for ASUN.
This position is responsible for planning, coordination, and implementation of academic advising and academic advisor training, and works in collaboration with Academic Affairs Administration to ensure student learning assessment data collection and analysis.
This position also works in collaboration with Faculty Association, Institutional Research, Student Affairs, and the Academic Support Center. This position will chair/co-chair the Student Learning Assessment Committee (SLAC) and the Advising Committee. This role supports the College’s mission of providing and ensuring quality educational programs for ASUN’s various constituencies.
This position is a 12-month appointment and will be housed on the Newport campus but will work on all ASUN campus locations as needed.
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education and two years of experience in higher education.
· Documented experience with academic advising, student academic planning and collaborative work in academic advising.
· Demonstrated knowledge of effective practice in student learning assessment.
· Desire to assist students in academic planning in both transfer and technical programs of study.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
