Newport Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 8.
Please come to a Town Hall meeting on childcare sponsored by the Newport Economic Development Commission, the City of Newport, Child Care Aware, and the Family Child Care Network. The meeting will be September 20, 2021 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the NEDC office, 201 Hazel Street in downtown Newport.
The meeting will be led by Debbie Mize and Elizabeth Scudder and they will be sharing information about new statewide initiatives for childcare, including family child care homes. The program will discuss child care centers, home based child care, and business based child care. The American Recovery Act will provide funding for public/private partnerships that help establish a business based child care option.
