City of West Memphis issued the following announcement on Sept. 9.
The City of West Memphis’s Parks and Recreation Department continues to move forward on the $9 million park renovation project. Even though you may not see work being done just yet in the parks, a lot is going on behind the scenes. Today, City officials and community leaders met with architects and design engineers to discuss the updated features and other details to finalize Phase 1, and begin moving forward to the second phase of the project.
This development is being designed to provide our residents with a vibrant family-oriented environment that encourages participation in athletics and enhances the quality of life here in West Memphis. Construction is set to begin later this year.
PLAN DETAILS INCLUDE:
• 12 new Baseball/Softball fields with Artificial Turf and new dugouts
• 6 Artificial Turf Tennis courts
• 4 Sand volleyball courts
• 4 Soccer ball fields
• New concessions and restrooms
• Upgraded LED sports lighting
• New Plaza’s
• Additional parking and spaces for buses
• Pier and Boardwalk bridges for more fishing options
• Paddleboats
• 2 miles of Exercise trails
• Splash pads (Worthington Park, Tilden Rodgers Park, Franklin Park)
• Hightower Park Amphitheater and Pavilions
• New Basketball courts
• Kickball fields
• Playgrounds at all city parks including Tilden Rodgers
• Dog Park at Tilden Rodgers
