WILLIAMS BAPTIST COLLEGE ATHLETICS: Lady Eagles Drop Close Match Against Evangel

Williams Baptist College Athletics issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.

The Williams Baptist University women's soccer dropped a close 1-0 match to Evangel to open up their season on Tuesday afternoon.

The Crusaders scored in the 27th minute, but the Lady Eagles kept fighting and attacking and had plenty of chances to tie the game, especially in the second half. They outshot the Crusaders 10-2 in the second half.

Maryn Jones led the squad with three shots on goal, while Elizabeth Garay, Thaina Calvacante, and Ramone Tretin all had one.

Paige Carlyle and Thayane Leal both played 45 minutes in the goal. Carlyle had two saves and allowed one goal, while Leal had one save.

Up Next

The Lady Eagles are next in action on Aug. 31 when they host Freed-Hardeman at 2 p.m.
