City of Blytheville issued the following announcement on July 15.
We thoroughly enjoyed yesterday Community Conversation with Governor Hutchinson at the Chickasaw Arena. We would like to share the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce’s key points from yesterday’s discussion and thank them for putting this information out for the community.
Several key points from the recent community conversation with Governor Hutchinson and Dr. J. Romero:
--Students, aged 12-18 if vaccinated, cannot be quarantined from classrooms or extra-curricular activities or required to mask. This age group is eligible for vaccination.
--People who have had Covid and have antibodies ARE NOT protected. Natural antibodies diminish in strength and are not strong enough to protect against infection. Vaccines are multiple times stronger.
--47% of Blytheville is vaccinated, while the county is only 28% vaccinated. We need a majority of vaccinated people to combat new mutations successfully.
--Like drug therapies, a small percentage of the time vaccines may not work or may have side effects, but the proof is in the numbers: 95% effectiveness is shown in well-documented studies.
