Of the 7,616 people living in Newport city in 2019, 54.7 percent (4,166) were women and 45.3 percent (3,450) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Upper Delta News.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by a ratio of 2,957-to-2,293. In the 65 and over age range, there were 751 females and 534 males.
