Cost of college went up for all students at East Arkansas Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1 percent for 2018-19 at East Arkansas Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arkansas residents paid $3,180 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $30 more than the $3,150 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 17 percent more than residents this year, or $3,720. Their price tag grew 1.6 percent from $3,660 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arkansas residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 72 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 91 students received grants or scholarships totaling $477,546 and 5 students took out student loans totaling more than $10,300.

Including all undergraduates (1,151), 680 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.6 million, and 49 students took out $165,040 in federal student loans.
